The purpose of the Centre of Excellence is to establish a preventive safety and health culture in the country through elimination of the incidences of work related injuries, diseases, fatalities, disasters, and to enhance the well being of all individuals working in various spheres of activities and to work on their social and emotional security.
Spoken Tutorial Project, IIT Bombay pleases to welcome "Gandhi Institute for Education and Technology" as a FOSS Center in the state of Odisha. This will be a first kind of activity in the state of Odisha in fact among the first few in India. This is Funded by the National Mission on Education through ICT, MHRD, Government of India, through the talk to Teacher project at IIT Bombay.
Here any number of students and faculty members can trained of different types of free open source softwares.

FOSSEE (Free and Open Source Software in Education) project promotes the use of FOSS tools to improve the quality of education in our country. We aim to reduce dependency on proprietary software in educational institutions. We encourage the use of FOSS tools through various activities to ensure commercial software is replaced by equivalent FOSS tools. We also develop new FOSS tools and upgrade existing tools to meet requirements in academia and research.
The FOSSEE project is part of the National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Ministry of Human Resources and Development, Government of India.
The Textbook Companion (TBC) activity aims to port solved examples from standard textbooks using a Free and Open source software.
1. Make individuals learn FOSS through a practical approach.
2. Provide a huge database of Textbook Companions as a learning resource.
3. To make it easy for users of such textbooks to start using FOSS.
4. To improve the documentation available for FOSS.
